Fall of Pak coalition might dissolve NA

PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari is mulling over dissolving the National Assembly if his party's coalition with Nawaz Sharif falls apart.

The Pakistani daily News reported that the leader of the Pakistan's People's Party is considering the option as he is not willing to work with Musharraf allies and his PML-Q.

The move could be done under the Article 58(1) of the 1973 Constitution, on the advice of the Prime Minister, the report added.

"Such a decision may badly divide the party, which had never been divided before," a party source told the daily, adding if another election was held, the party would not even win half of its present seats.

Sources close to Nawaz Sharif's PML-N, however, said Zardari could never commit such a mistake because in this case the people would think that he is sacrificing the interests of the party and the nation.

PPP spokesperson Farhatullah Babar has so far declined to comment on the report.
