Al-Shabbab kills 8 Somali soldiers

At least eight Somali soldiers have been killed in fresh clashes with members of the armed opposition group al-Shabaab, witnesses say.

During the battle, al-Shabaab fighters killed eight Somali soldiers and seized three military vehicles as well as a significant amount of weapons from the government soldiers, a Xamarradio correspondent reported Sunday.

In another development, in a raid on the house of the Former Foreign Secretary of the Union of Islamic Courts, Sheikh Ibrahim Addow, Somali soldiers gained access to some documents and an arms cache there, the report said.

Meanwhile, embattled Somali President, Abdullahi Yusuf, returned home from a visit of several countries as well as the UN Headquarters in New York, over the past week.
